There are a number of terms and conditions that we require guests to agree to. When we all abide by the rules, we help to make sure that everyone has a wonderful stay at the Cape Clear hostel.
We welcome people of all ages, families, groups and individual travellers. Respect for others is the most important thing to bring with you when you’re sharing hostel accommodation!
If you’re making a booking, please read over the rules so that you’re familiar with them before you arrive on the island.
Arrival & Payment
Upon arrival, we will ask you to register, pay for your stay, and pay a refundable deposit for the key/day rate.
We will take you on a quick health & safety familiarisation tour of the hostel.
We normally agree a time of arrival at the hostel for new guests, as this makes for a quicker, smoother registration.
We open reception especially to coincide with the arrival of the ferry. One of the booking conditions is that all members of a family or group must register in person during normal reception opening hours, 9am – 6pm.
If you are going to be later than the agreed time then you must let us know.
Guest may lose their reservation if they fail to arrive at the agreed time without contacting us.
We do not accept new guests after 9pm in the evening.
Reserved rooms are normally available from 3.30pm on the day of arrival to 10am on the day of departure.
You are welcome to register earlier and leave your bags while you explore the island.
Access & Facilities
You will be issued with a front door key and can come and go as you please throughout your stay.
You are also welcome to use the hostel facilities after 10.30am on your day of departure for a day-rate charge of €5 per person – subject to availability.
Our day-rate charge allows use of the hostel facilities, except bedrooms, from 10.30am to 3pm on the day of departure.
Day-rate deposit will be refunded if you depart by 10.30am on day of departure. No refunds after 10.30am.
You are welcome to extend your stay, subject to availability, but you must pay for the additional day or days before 10.30am.
